Leading with Heart: Patricia Maroto on Leadership, Inclusion, and Motherhood at Halian

When people ask me what it’s like to be a marketing director and a mum of two young kids, my answer is simple: it’s possible — because I’m supported.

At Halian, I’ve found a workplace that truly understands that people aren’t just their job titles. We’re leaders, parents, partners, individuals — and we shouldn’t have to compromise one identity to succeed in another.

Inclusion That Goes Beyond Words

I’ve worked in different countries, across industries, and I know how rare it is to find a company where inclusion is lived, not just written into a policy. At Halian, I’m not expected to hide the fact that I’m a mum or explain why I need to be at a school play or a doctor's appointment.

“I haven’t missed any important day in my kids’ lives — and I’m still doing the work I love. That’s what flexibility at Halian really means to me.”

There’s trust here. Trust that I’ll deliver, lead, and grow — and that I can do all of that while being present for my children. That kind of trust empowers you to give your best, without guilt.

Redefining Leadership on My Terms

Leadership, to me, is about being present with purpose, setting direction, and empowering others to grow — not about constantly being “on.” It’s about knowing when to lean in, when to listen, and how to lead in a way that’s sustainable, supportive, and human.

At Halian, I’ve been able to define leadership in a way that aligns with both my values and my life. I can lead a high-performing team and still be there for the moments that matter most at home.

"You don’t need to sacrifice presence for performance — not when you’re part of a culture that truly supports balance."

Why I Stay — and Why I Share

I’m proud of the work we’re doing at Halian. I’m proud of the brand we’re building, the people we’re growing, and the culture we’re shaping — one where authenticity and balance aren’t perks, but expectations.

I share my story because I want other women — and parents — to know that it’s possible to grow your career without burning out or compromising the life you want. And if you’re looking for a place to do that, I hope you’ll consider joining us.

To Anyone Wondering If It’s Possible — It Is.

Your career and your family can coexist. You can lead, inspire, and still be home for bedtime stories. You don’t have to choose.
