At Halian, the trust and safety of our candidates are extremely important to us.

We have become aware of individuals falsely using the Halian name and the name of our Chief Executive Officer, Stuart Fry, in connection with fake recruitment opportunities. These individuals may contact job seekers claiming to represent Halian and may request money in exchange for a job opportunity or as part of the recruitment process this is a scam.

Halian Will Never Ask Candidates for Money

We want to make this absolutely clear:

Halian will never ask a candidate to make a payment at any stage of the recruitment process.

This includes requests for money in relation to:
• Securing or confirming a job offer
• Interviews or recruitment processes
• Onboarding
• Training or certifications
• Equipment or other employment-related costs
• Any other reason connected to obtaining employment with Halian

If someone claiming to represent Halian asks you to transfer money or make a payment in order to secure a position, do not make the payment.
Managed Services vs In-House IT: Cost Comparison

When businesses review their IT costs, the obvious question is often: which option is cheaper? But comparing managed services with an in-house IT team is rarely as simple as comparing salaries with a monthly service fee.

The real cost sits beneath the surface: recruitment, specialist skills, infrastructure, training, software, employee benefits and the ability to scale when business needs change.

For organisations looking to control costs without compromising technology performance, understanding the difference between the two models is essential.

The True Cost of In-House IT

An internal IT team gives businesses direct control over their technology environment and day-to-day priorities. It can also provide valuable institutional knowledge, as employees develop a strong understanding of the organisation’s systems and processes.

However, the cost of an in-house team extends well beyond salaries.

Recruitment fees, benefits, office costs, training and professional development all contribute to the total investment. There is also the challenge of maintaining enough technical expertise as technology evolves. Hiring one IT professional may solve an immediate need, but a growing organisation could eventually require expertise across cybersecurity, cloud computing, infrastructure and data.

That can make building a sufficiently broad internal team expensive, particularly when some skills are only needed occasionally.

Where Managed Services Can Change the Equation

Managed services offer an alternative by giving organisations access to external IT expertise for an agreed cost.

Instead of employing specialists for every technical requirement, businesses can work with a provider that manages specific functions or an entire IT environment. This can reduce the need for extensive internal infrastructure and provide access to skills that would otherwise be difficult or expensive to recruit.

Understanding What is staff augmentation vs outsourcing can also help organisations distinguish between different approaches to accessing external technology expertise and determine which model best fits their requirements.

Managed services can also offer greater predictability. Rather than dealing with unexpected recruitment costs or the expense of maintaining under-utilised specialist roles, organisations can structure their IT spending around an agreed service model.

Cost Is Only One Part of the Comparison

The cheapest option on paper is not necessarily the most cost-effective.

An in-house team may offer faster access to people who already understand the business, while a managed services provider can offer broader expertise and greater scalability. The right choice depends on what the organisation needs its IT function to achieve.

Businesses should consider factors such as:
• The size and complexity of their technology environment
• The specialist skills required
• Internal hiring and retention costs
• Cybersecurity and compliance requirements
• Expected business growth
• The need for 24/7 support
• How quickly additional capacity may be required

These factors can have a significant impact on the total cost of ownership.

A Hybrid Model May Offer the Best of Both

The decision does not always have to be either in-house or outsourced.

A hybrid approach can allow organisations to retain an internal team for strategic responsibilities while using managed services for specialist or operational requirements. For example, internal employees might oversee technology strategy and business-critical systems, while an external partner provides cybersecurity monitoring, cloud support or infrastructure management.

This can give businesses greater flexibility without removing internal ownership of important technology decisions.

Making the Right Investment

The best IT model is not necessarily the one with the lowest immediate price. It is the one that delivers the right combination of expertise, flexibility, reliability and long-term value.

As technology becomes increasingly central to business operations, organisations need to look beyond the monthly IT bill and consider the full cost of maintaining the capabilities they need.

Whether the answer is an internal team, managed services or a combination of both, a clear understanding of current requirements and future growth will help businesses invest in technology with greater confidence.

How to scale a tech team quickly?

Scaling a technology team sounds straightforward: more projects, more demand, more people. In reality, rapid growth can expose weaknesses that were easy to overlook when a team was smaller. Hiring too quickly can create communication gaps, inconsistent processes and a shortage of specialist skills needed to keep projects moving.

The challenge is not simply adding more people. It is building the right team, at the right time, with enough structure to keep performance and culture intact.

Start with the Capability Gap, Not the Headcount

Before opening a dozen new vacancies, identify what is actually limiting the team.

Is there a shortage of software engineers? Are projects waiting for cloud specialists? Is the existing team spending too much time on routine infrastructure work? Or is the real issue a lack of technical leadership?

A skills and capacity assessment can reveal where additional talent will have the greatest impact. This helps organisations avoid hiring for volume when what they really need is a specific capability.

The result is a more focused hiring strategy, with each new role connected to a clear business requirement.

Build a Flexible Hiring Model

Not every technology need requires a permanent hire.

For organisations facing a sudden increase in demand, a combination of permanent employees, contractors and managed services can provide greater flexibility. Specialist contractors can help fill immediate skills gaps, while permanent hires build long-term capability within the organisation.

This approach can be particularly valuable when entering a new market, launching a major technology project or adopting emerging technologies where the required skills may be difficult to find locally.

Understanding What is a Technology Talent Partner (and Why Companies Need One)can also help organisations determine when external expertise can complement their internal hiring strategy.

Make Speed Part of the Hiring Strategy

Traditional recruitment processes can struggle when a business needs to scale quickly. Lengthy approval cycles, unclear job descriptions and multiple interview stages can cause strong candidates to disappear before an offer is made.

Speed, however, should not mean lowering the bar.

A streamlined process should define the essential technical skills, decision-makers and assessment criteria before recruitment begins. Working with a specialist technology recruitment partner can also give organisations access to established talent networks and market knowledge, helping them reach suitable candidates faster.

Knowing How long does it take to hire a software engineerEcan help businesses set realistic expectations and identify where their recruitment process could be made more efficient.

Protect Culture While the Team Grows

One of the less obvious risks of rapid hiring is losing the culture that made the original team successful.

New employees need more than a laptop and an onboarding checklist. They need clarity around how the team works, how decisions are made and what good performance looks like.

As headcount increases, documentation, knowledge-sharing and effective communication become increasingly important. Managers also need to ensure that existing employees are not overlooked while new talent joins the business.

Growth should strengthen the team, not create two separate groups of “old” and “new” employees.

Think Beyond the Next Vacancy

Technology requirements rarely stay still. The skills that are difficult to find today may become less critical tomorrow, while new capabilities can emerge almost overnight.

That is why successful scaling should include workforce planning alongside immediate recruitment. Organisations need to consider which capabilities they will require six, twelve or eighteen months from now, and whether those skills should be built internally, hired externally or accessed through a flexible delivery model.

Scaling with Confidence

A growing technology team can give an organisation the capacity to move faster, innovate and respond to changing customer expectations. But successful scaling is not measured by how quickly headcount increases.

It is measured by how effectively the team grows without compromising quality, productivity or culture.

With the right workforce strategy, hiring approach and access to specialist technology talent, organisations can scale at pace while building a team equipped for what comes next.

Technology Talent in Banking & Financial Services

Banking and financial services have always depended on technology, but the role of technology talent has changed significantly. Today, software engineers, cybersecurity specialists, data professionals and cloud experts are not simply supporting financial operations. They are helping shape how financial products are built, delivered and experienced.

As banks and financial institutions accelerate digital transformation, the competition for specialist technology talent is becoming increasingly important.

Why Technology Talent Matters More Than Ever

Financial institutions operate in an environment where reliability, security and speed are equally important. Customers expect seamless digital experiences, while organisations must protect sensitive financial data and comply with increasingly complex regulatory requirements.

This creates a demand for professionals who can combine technical expertise with an understanding of the financial environment.

A strong technology team can help organisations modernise legacy systems, develop digital products, strengthen cybersecurity and use data more effectively. The challenge is finding people with the right combination of technical skills and industry awareness.

The Technology Skills Shaping Financial Services

The technology requirements of financial institutions are broad and constantly evolving.

Cloud computing has become increasingly important as organisations modernise infrastructure and look for more scalable technology environments. Cybersecurity specialists are equally critical, helping protect systems and customer information against increasingly sophisticated threats.

Data and AI skills are also becoming central to financial services. From fraud detection and risk analysis to personalised customer experiences, financial institutions can use data to make faster and more informed decisions.

Software engineers remain essential across these areas, particularly as banks develop digital platforms and integrate new technologies with existing systems.

However, hiring for these capabilities is not simply about finding someone who can perform a technical task. Financial organisations often need professionals who understand the importance of security, compliance, resilience and accuracy.

The Challenge of Finding the Right Talent

Competition for technology professionals is high across industries, and financial services organisations are competing not only with other banks but also with technology companies and fintechs.

Specialist candidates often have multiple opportunities available to them, making traditional recruitment approaches less effective.

There is also a growing challenge around skills that are evolving faster than traditional job descriptions. Organisations may know they need to strengthen their AI, cloud or cybersecurity capabilities without having a clear picture of the exact roles and expertise required.

This is where a focused technology talent strategy can make a difference.

Building Teams for Digital Transformation

Technology hiring should not happen in isolation from the wider business strategy. Financial institutions need to understand how their technology priorities are changing and which capabilities will be required to support them.

For organisations undergoing major change, understanding Digital Transformation in Enterprise: Strategy, Challenges, and Talent Needs can help put technology hiring into a broader strategic context.

The most effective approach is often to think beyond individual vacancies and consider the capabilities the organisation needs to build over time. This may involve a combination of permanent hires, specialist contractors and external technology expertise.

Looking Beyond Technical Skills

The strongest technology professionals in financial services bring more than technical knowledge.

Communication, problem-solving, adaptability and the ability to work across business and technical teams are increasingly valuable. A software engineer may need to understand regulatory requirements, while a data specialist may need to communicate complex insights to non-technical stakeholders.

As technology becomes more closely integrated with financial decision-making, these soft skills can be just as important as technical expertise.

Building the Technology Workforce of Tomorrow

The future of banking and financial services will depend on technology, but technology alone is not enough. Organisations need people who can turn new capabilities into practical business outcomes.

For financial institutions, investing in the right technology talent means looking beyond immediate hiring needs and building capabilities that can support innovation, security and sustainable growth.

The organisations that succeed will be those that treat technology talent as a strategic capability — not simply another recruitment requirement.

How Halian Supports Global Tech Hiring

For a technology business expanding across borders, hiring the right people can become one of the biggest challenges to growth. Different talent markets, varying skill availability and competition for experienced professionals can make global recruitment difficult to manage at speed.

Consider a technology company preparing to expand its operations across several international markets. Its challenge is not simply finding more candidates. It needs access to specialised technology talent while maintaining a consistent recruitment approach across different locations.

This is where a specialist technology recruitment partner can make a difference.

The Challenge: Scaling Without Losing Focus

The company has ambitious growth plans and needs to strengthen its technology teams. However, its internal recruitment function has limited reach in some markets and lacks access to established networks of specialist technology professionals.

Hiring locally in each market also creates additional complexity. Candidate expectations, availability and recruitment practices can vary significantly between countries.

The company needs a way to access the right talent without creating a separate recruitment strategy for every location.

The Approach: Combining Global Reach with Technical Expertise

Halian supports the company by acting as an extension of its recruitment function, focusing on technical recruitment across its target markets.

The process begins by understanding the company’s technology requirements, team structure and priorities. Rather than simply matching CVs to job descriptions, the focus is on identifying candidates whose technical capabilities and experience align with the wider business need.

Halian’s access to technology talent networks can then help broaden the search beyond the most visible candidate pools. This is particularly valuable for specialist roles where suitable professionals may already be in high demand.

Understanding Hiring Tech Talent in Luxembourg: Challenges & Opportunities can also highlight the importance of understanding local talent markets when building a successful international technology recruitment strategy.

The approach also provides greater consistency. Instead of navigating multiple recruitment channels independently, the company has a dedicated partner helping manage its technology hiring requirements across different markets.

The Difference: A More Connected Hiring Strategy

Global recruitment is rarely about finding one perfect candidate. It is about building a reliable talent pipeline that can support changing business requirements.

By combining market knowledge with specialist technology recruitment expertise, Halian can help organisations identify where talent is available, understand the competitive hiring landscape and reach relevant professionals more efficiently.

This also gives internal teams more time to focus on strategic priorities rather than managing every stage of the recruitment process themselves.

The Outcome: Building for Sustainable Growth

For the company in this scenario, the value of the partnership extends beyond filling individual vacancies.

With a more structured approach to global technology recruitment, the organisation can access broader talent pools, respond to hiring requirements more efficiently and create a more consistent experience across markets.

Just as importantly, it has a recruitment model that can adapt as its technology needs evolve.

What This Means for Global Tech Hiring

The key lesson is that global technology hiring is not simply a matter of looking for talent in more countries. It requires an understanding of different markets, access to specialist networks and a recruitment strategy that can adapt to business priorities.

For organisations planning international growth, working with a technology recruitment partner can provide the reach and expertise needed to build teams with greater confidence.

Halian’s role is not simply to help businesses fill technology vacancies. It is to connect organisations with the specialist talent they need to support their ambitions — wherever that talent may be.

For a technology business expanding across borders, hiring the right people can become one of the biggest challenges to growth. Different talent markets, varying skill availability and competition for experienced professionals can make global recruitment difficult to manage at speed.

Consider a technology company preparing to expand its operations across several international markets.
What is staff augmentation vs outsourcing?

As businesses face increasing pressure to deliver projects faster, scale operations efficiently, and access specialised talent, many are turning to flexible workforce solutions. Two of the most common approaches are staff augmentation and outsourcing. While these models are often mentioned together, they serve different purposes and offer distinct advantages.

Understanding the differences between staff augmentation and outsourcing can help organisations choose the right approach for their business goals, project requirements, and long-term growth.

What Is Staff Augmentation?

Staff augmentation is a hiring model where businesses temporarily add skilled professionals to their existing teams. Rather than outsourcing an entire project, organisations bring in external specialists who work alongside their in-house employees while remaining under the company’s management and direction.

This approach is particularly useful when businesses need additional expertise for a specific project, want to fill temporary skills gaps, or require extra resources without making permanent hires.

Because augmented staff integrate into existing teams and workflows, organisations maintain full control over project management, priorities, and day-to-day operations.

What Is Outsourcing?

Outsourcing involves assigning an entire function, project, or business process to an external provider. Instead of managing individual professionals, businesses rely on a third-party partner to deliver agreed outcomes based on defined objectives and service levels.

Common examples include software development, managed IT services, cybersecurity, cloud management, technical support, and business process outsourcing.

With outsourcing, the service provider is responsible for managing resources, delivery, and project execution, allowing internal teams to focus on strategic business priorities.

Staff Augmentation vs Outsourcing: What’s the Difference?

Although both models provide access to external expertise, the way they operate is fundamentally different.

Management and Control

Staff augmentation gives organisations direct control over external professionals. Augmented team members follow internal processes, collaborate with existing employees, and report to the company’s managers.

Outsourcing transfers much of the operational responsibility to the external provider, who manages the team, timelines, and project delivery.

Flexibility

Staff augmentation offers greater flexibility when businesses need to scale teams quickly or access high-demand tech talentfor short-term projects. Organisations can expand or reduce their workforce as project demands change.

Outsourcing is often better suited to ongoing services or projects where businesses prefer an external partner to manage delivery from start to finish.

Cost Considerations

Both models can reduce recruitment costs and improve access to specialist skills. However, the most cost-effective option depends on business objectives rather than hourly rates alone.

Staff augmentation allows companies to avoid the long-term costs associated with permanent hiring while maintaining control over internal operations. Outsourcing may reduce management overhead by placing responsibility for delivery with the service provider.

Which Model Is Right for Your Business?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer.

Staff augmentation is often the better choice when organisations already have established internal teams but need additional expertise, faster project delivery, or temporary support for specialised initiatives.

Outsourcing may be more appropriate when businesses want to delegate an entire function, reduce operational complexity, or gain access to an experienced delivery partner without managing day-to-day execution.

Some organisations successfully combine both approaches, using staff augmentation to strengthen internal teams while outsourcing non-core functions or specialised services.

Making the Right Workforce Decision

Choosing between staff augmentation and outsourcing starts with understanding your business priorities. Factors such as project complexity, available internal resources, required expertise, budget, and desired level of control should all influence the decision.

The right workforce strategy not only helps organisations deliver projects more efficiently but also improves agility, supports business growth, and enables access to highly skilled professionals when they’re needed most.

At Halian, we help organisations build flexible workforce solutions that align with their business goals. Whether you need specialist talent to strengthen your existing team or a trusted partner to deliver end-to-end technology services, our experts can help you find the right solution.

For many organisations, outsourcing IT services is no longer just a cost-saving strategy—it’s a way to access specialist expertise, improve operational efficiency, and scale technology capabilities more quickly. But before deciding to outsource, one question usually comes first: how much does it actually cost?

The answer depends on several factors, including the type of service, the skills required, the location of the provider, and the level of ongoing support your business needs. Understanding these variables can help organisations budget more effectively and choose the right outsourcing model.

What Determines the Cost of IT Outsourcing?

There is no fixed price for outsourced IT services because every organisation has different requirements. A company looking for occasional IT support will have very different costs from one building an outsourced software development team.

Some of the biggest factors that influence pricing include:

Type of Service

The complexity of the work plays a significant role in overall costs. Managed IT support, cloud services, cybersecurity, software development, infrastructure management, and data engineering all require different levels of expertise and resources.

Highly specialised roles typically command higher rates due to the demand for experienced professionals.

Project Scope

A short-term project with clearly defined deliverables is usually priced differently from an ongoing managed service. Businesses should also consider whether they require a single specialist, a dedicated team, or long-term technical support.

Clearly defining project objectives from the beginning helps avoid unexpected costs later.

Location of the Talent

Where your outsourced team is based can have a significant impact on pricing. Businesses often balance cost with collaboration, time zones, and access to specialised skills when deciding whether to work with local, nearshore, or offshore providers.

Choosing the lowest-cost option isn’t always the most cost-effective decision if communication challenges or project delays affect delivery.

Is Outsourcing More Cost-Effective Than Hiring In-House?

In many cases, yes.

Hiring permanent employees involves more than salaries alone. Recruitment costs, employee benefits, office space, training, equipment, and ongoing development all contribute to the total investment.

Outsourcing allows organisations to access experienced professionals without many of these additional overheads. It also gives businesses the flexibility to scale resources up or down as project requirements change.

For companies delivering digital transformation projects, outsourcing can provide rapid access to specialist expertise that may be difficult or time-consuming to recruit internally.

How Can Businesses Maximise Value?

The cheapest provider is not always the best choice. Successful outsourcing focuses on long-term value rather than simply reducing costs.

Businesses should look for partners with proven technical expertise, transparent communication, scalable delivery models, and a strong understanding of their industry.

Equally important is choosing professionals with the right IT skills to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and future business needs can be supported as technology evolves.

Taking time to define expectations, service levels, and project goals before work begins can also help prevent unnecessary costs and improve outcomes.

Looking Beyond Cost

While pricing is an important consideration, it should not be the only factor when outsourcing IT services. Reliability, quality, security, and access to specialist talent often have a much greater impact on long-term business success.

The right outsourcing strategy enables organisations to remain agile, accelerate innovation, and respond more effectively to changing market demands.

Choosing the Right IT Outsourcing Partner

Outsourcing IT services is ultimately an investment in your organisation’s future. When approached strategically, it can reduce operational complexity, improve efficiency, and provide access to expertise that supports sustainable growth.

At Halian, we help organisations build high-performing technology teams through flexible outsourcing and recruitment solutions.
How long does it take to hire a software engineer?

You’ve identified the need for a new software engineer, secured the budget, and published the job opening. Now comes the biggest challenge—finding the right candidate before someone else does.

In today’s competitive technology market, hiring a software engineer is rarely a quick process. Skilled professionals are in high demand, and the best candidates are often interviewing with multiple employers at the same time. While every business is different, understanding what influences hiring timelines can help organisations recruit more efficiently without compromising on quality.

So, How Long Does It Usually Take?

For most organisations, hiring a software engineer takes between four and eight weeks from advertising the role to the candidate accepting an offer. However, the timeline can vary depending on the seniority of the position, the required technical skills, and the complexity of the recruitment process.

Junior and mid-level roles are often filled more quickly, while senior software engineers or specialists in areas such as cloud, AI, cybersecurity, or DevOps may require additional time due to limited talent availability.

The good news is that many hiring delays are avoidable.

What Slows Down the Hiring Process?

Understanding where delays occur is the first step towards improving recruitment outcomes.

A Competitive Talent Market

Software engineers remain among the most sought-after professionals worldwide. Experienced candidates often receive several interview requests and multiple offers, meaning employers have a limited window to secure top talent.

If the hiring process moves too slowly, candidates may accept another opportunity before your organisation reaches the final interview stage.

Lengthy Interview Processes

Technical assessments, multiple interview rounds, and slow internal decision-making are among the biggest reasons recruitment timelines increase.

While it’s important to evaluate candidates thoroughly, an overly complex hiring process can create frustration for both hiring managers and applicants. Companies hiring for critical digital initiatives often benefit from streamlining interview stages while maintaining a high standard of technical assessment.

Limited Talent Availability

Some technologies simply have smaller talent pools than others. Hiring a full-stack developer may be relatively straightforward, while finding an experienced cloud architect or machine learning engineer could take considerably longer.

Expanding your search to include remote professionals or international talent can significantly improve hiring speed and increase access to specialised expertise.

How Can Businesses Hire Faster?

Speed doesn’t mean lowering hiring standards. Instead, it means removing unnecessary delays and making the recruitment journey smoother for everyone involved.

Start by clearly defining the role, required skills, and interview process before advertising the position. Keeping interview schedules organised and providing prompt feedback helps maintain candidate engagement throughout the process.

Organisations that understand the skills today’s IT professionals need are also better positioned to identify qualified candidates quickly and make more informed hiring decisions.

Many employers also work with specialist technology recruiters who already have access to qualified professionals, helping reduce sourcing time and accelerate hiring.

Why Time-to-Hire Matters

Every vacant technical role has an impact on business performance. Delayed hiring can slow product development, increase workloads for existing teams, and postpone important business objectives.

At the same time, candidates evaluate employers just as carefully as employers evaluate candidates. A smooth, well-organised hiring process creates a positive candidate experience and strengthens your employer brand.

Companies that combine speed with a structured recruitment strategy are often the ones that attract and retain the strongest technology talent.

Finding the Right Software Engineer

Hiring a software engineer isn’t simply about filling a vacancy—it’s about finding someone who can contribute to your team’s long-term success.

By streamlining recruitment processes, acting quickly, and widening access to skilled professionals, organisations can reduce hiring times while maintaining high recruitment standards.

At Halian, we help businesses connect with exceptional technology talent through tailored recruitment solutions. Whether you’re hiring one software engineer or scaling an entire technology team, our experts help you find the right people—faster.

Nearshoring vs Offshoring in Europe: What Works Best?

As businesses across Europe continue to face skills shortages and rising hiring costs, many are looking beyond their local markets to access top talent. Two of the most common workforce strategies are nearshoring and offshoring. While both offer access to global expertise, they serve different business needs.

Understanding the differences between these models can help organisations make informed decisions based on cost, collaboration, and long-term growth.

What Is Nearshoring?

Nearshoring involves outsourcing business functions or hiring talent in a nearby country, typically within the same or a similar time zone. For European companies, this often means partnering with professionals in countries such as Poland, Romania, Portugal, or other parts of Central and Eastern Europe.

The main advantage of nearshoring is proximity. Similar working hours, shorter travel times, and stronger cultural alignment make communication and collaboration more efficient. Teams can work in real time, making nearshoring particularly valuable for projects that require regular interaction and agile decision-making.

What Is Offshoring?

Offshoring refers to outsourcing work to countries that are geographically farther away, often in regions such as Asia, Africa, or Latin America. Businesses typically choose this model to reduce operational costs while accessing a larger global talent pool.

Offshoring has become a popular solution for functions such as software development, IT support, customer service, and back-office operations. While it can deliver significant cost savings, organisations may need to manage challenges related to time zone differences, communication, and cultural nuances.

Comparing Nearshoring and Offshoring

When deciding between the two models, businesses should consider more than just cost.

Cost Efficiency
Offshoring often provides lower labour costs, making it attractive for businesses focused on reducing operational expenses. Nearshoring may involve slightly higher costs but can deliver greater value through improved collaboration and faster project delivery.

Communication and Collaboration
Nearshoring offers clear advantages when teams need frequent meetings, quick feedback, or close collaboration. Similar working hours reduce delays and make it easier to maintain project momentum. Offshoring can still be highly effective, but organisations may need structured communication processes to bridge time zone gaps.

Access to Talent
Both models expand access to skilled professionals. Nearshoring gives European businesses access to highly qualified talent in neighbouring markets, while offshoring opens the door to an even broader global workforce with expertise across a wide range of industries and technologies.

Business Agility
For projects that require rapid decision-making or frequent stakeholder involvement, nearshoring can improve responsiveness. It is particularly valuable for companies managing digital transformation initiatives or building integrated project teams. Offshoring is often well suited to long-term projects with clearly defined processes and deliverables.

Which Model Works Best in Europe?

There is no universal answer. The right choice depends on your business priorities.

Nearshoring is often the better option for organisations that prioritise collaboration, speed, regulatory alignment, and real-time communication. Offshoring, on the other hand, may be the preferred solution for businesses seeking to optimise costs, scale operations quickly, or access specialised skills that are difficult to find locally.

Many organisations are also adopting a hybrid approach, combining nearshore and offshore teams to balance efficiency, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness. This strategy enables businesses to allocate work based on project requirements while maintaining access to a diverse global talent pool.

Making the Right Talent Strategy

Whether your organisation chooses nearshoring, offshoring, or a combination of both, success depends on selecting the right talent strategy and delivery model. Factors such as business objectives, collaboration requirements, budget, and project complexity should all play a role in the decision-making process.

At Halian, we help organisations build workforce strategies that align with their goals. By connecting businesses with highly skilled professionals across Europe and beyond, we enable companies to scale confidently while maintaining quality, flexibility, and long-term success.
