The Application architecture is one of several architecture domains that form the pillars of an enterprise architecture or solution architecture. Application architect responsibility goes around managing and identifying the opportunities within operation support systems (OSS) and technology trends to support current and future business needs. Also, determine the industry standard, best approach and practice to utilize technologies beside avoiding potential conflicts and overlapping. Ensure technologies compliance to organization policies and guidelines. Application architect develops the high level applications roadmap for coming years according to valuable and proven technologies in technology market.
Responsibilities/ job description:
- ?Engage in all aspects related to OSS Applications: onboarding new applications, decommissioning, re-positioning, rationalization, and consolidation decisions.
- Ensure of OSS applications alignment with overall company's strategy and business goals.?
- Develop long-term strategic roadmaps for the company's OSS applications.?
- Communicate with other Application Architecture domains (ESS and BSS) and Business Architecture, data, infrastructure and cloud\digital to complement the overall enterprise recommendation and suggestions.
- Review technology sector projects proposals to ensure no functional duplication or divergent from organization business and technology strategies.?
- Determine enhancement opportunities for OSS applications and the right time and approaches to acquire the technologies related.
- Direct or indirect involvement in the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation, and use of OSS technologies within the enterprise.?
- Comprehend the OSS As-Is architecture and creates vision for the OSS To-Be including transition architecture.
- Assess the gaps between the As-Is and To-Be OSS architectures and support in choosing and/or moving to the right OSS architecture.
- Get engaged in the evolution of architecture of the OSS domain (Performance and Fault management, passive and active Inventory & Topology management, network discovery, VAS, Trouble Ticketing management, Engineering Systems, network monitoring tools, GIS, etc..).
- Ensure alignment with leading frameworks, e.g., SOA, and TMF Framework, FCAPS.
- Oversee the development of Fixed Intelligent network, NMS, EMS architectures.
- Perform regular update on application architecture documentation based on the changes in the environments and update on application strategies.
- Support STC subsidiaries in all architectural aspects of OSS applications and initiatives.
Required Qualification / Experience
- BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related technology degree.
- 15+ years’ experience in IT\Telecom field.
- 5+ years’ experience applications architecture of Telecom OSS.
- Strong knowledge in IT and Telco applications and technologies
- Strong experience in OSS functions (Network management systems, service delivery, service fulfillment including the network inventory, activation and provisioning, service assurance, etc..).
- Strong knowledge in telco industry standards (e.g., TM forum eTOM, TAM, FCAPS)
- Participated in large scale (enterprise) IT\Telco applications projects and implementations.
- High communication, negotiation skills with proven influence.
- Comprehensive view (big picture), the ability to see how the whole system parts can interact with each other.
- Strong knowledge of the integration methods, techniques, and technology.
- Aware about new application technologies specifically for OSS.
- Good knowledge of the business for which the enterprise architecture is being developed
- Interpersonal and leadership skills – time and stress management, presentation skills, teamwork, self-awareness, confidence and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage applications & technology conflicts especially in OSS.
- Ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people may understand
- Excellent knowledge of EA governance and Application operations.

- TOGAF Certified.
- ArchiMate 3 Practitioner
- The Open Group Certified IT Specialist (Open CITS)
- Certified TM Forum Frameworks transformation manager
- ITIL Certified
