Job Description – DevOps Engineer
Location: Strasbourg (on-site, EU institution context)
Contract: Long-term assignment (freelance or permanent via Halian)
Language: English (fluent, written and spoken)
Position Overview
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join a strategic project within a European institutional environment. The role involves building, maintaining, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments while ensuring high standards of reliability, scalability, and security.
This position requires a strong technical background in modern DevOps practices and tools, combined with excellent communication skills to work in an international, English-speaking environment.
Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Deploy, manage, and optimize containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes / OpenShift.
• Implement and maintain configuration management and automation with Ansible.
• Manage artifact repositories (Nexus) and testing tools (Squash).
• Ensure integration of security best practices within the DevOps lifecycle.
• Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to streamline deployments and improve system reliability.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation in English.
Required Skills
• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer in large-scale environments.
• Strong expertise in:
o OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker (container orchestration & deployment).
o CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and GitLab CI.
o Ansible for configuration management & automation.
o Nexus, Squash or equivalent tools.

• Solid scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar).
• Fluency in English (spoken and written).
Nice-to-Have
• Experience in EU institutions or public sector projects.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Familiarity with Agile/DevOps methodologies in international teams.
Profile
• Seniority: Open – from motivated junior (2–4 years of experience) to senior engineers, provided autonomy and strong problem-solving mindset.
• Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
• Analytical, proactive, and solution-oriented.
