We are seeking a Senior COBOL Developer to join our client, a European Institution. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in COBOL programming and a strong understanding of mainframe environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL programs in a mainframe environment.
- Assist the client in modifying their COBOL applications.
- Analyze and troubleshoot issues in existing applications and provide timely resolutions.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
- Support system integration, data migration, and modernization initiatives.
- Document technical specifications and maintain system documentation.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior developers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in COBOL development (including COBOL II, CICS, JCL, and DB2).
- Belgian resident.
- Strong knowledge of mainframe tools and utilities (e.g., TSO/ISPF, VSAM, File-AID).
- Experience with working in Agile environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- French and English mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with modernization projects (e.g., migrating from mainframe to cloud or distributed systems).
- In addition to COBOL85, knowledge of JCL languages, Linux, and PostgreSQL is welcome.
