2. Job Purpose |
The Senior Scrum Master is a servant leader and agile expert responsible for mentoring multiple squads and Scrum Masters, driving enterprise-scale agile practices across the Digital Factory. This role ensures consistency in agile execution, removes systemic impediments, fosters a culture of continuous improvement, and acts as a strategic delivery partner to senior stakeholders. As a senior leader, this role also supports agile transformation, squad health, and scaled agile delivery across value streams. |
3. Key Responsibilities |
Policies, Processes & Procedures |
- Ensure adherence to agile governance frameworks across squads.
- Contribute to the definition and institutionalization of agile delivery policies, processes, and quality benchmarks.

Day- to-day operations |
- Oversee execution across multiple delivery squads.
- Monitor sprint health, burn rates, and alignment with release goals.
|
Core Job Functions |
- Serve as the squad's primary Agile facilitator, coach, and servant leader.
- Remove impediments and blockers to ensure timely delivery.
- Encourage and coach team members on Agile best practices, principles, and mindset.
- Foster collaboration between squad members, product owners, and stakeholders.
- Track squad performance metrics (e.g., velocity, burn-down charts) to improve flow.
- Guide the team towards continuous delivery and improvement.
- Support the Product Owner in backlog refinement and prioritization.
- Shield the squad from external distractions and scope creep.

- Lead agile maturity assessments and action planning at squad and portfolio levels.
- Drive adoption of DevOps practices, automation tools, and metrics-led continuous delivery improvements.
- Champion agile experimentation, retrospectives, and lean startup practices.

- Create an environment of psychological safety and team empowerment.
- Encourage ownership, collaboration, and accountability within squads.
- Support squad health and team morale.

Reporting |
- Provide strategic, consolidated reporting on squad performance, financial forecasts, risks, and operational KPIs.

Safety, Quality & Environment
|
- Ensure all agile delivery practices align with the company’s health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

4. Qualifications & Experience |
Qualifications |
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Professional Certifications Preferred |
- Certified Scrum Professional – Scrum Master (CSP-SM)
- SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) or Release Train Engineer (RTE)
- PMI-ACP, ICAgile Certified Expert in Agile Coaching (ICE-AC), or equivalent
|
Years of Experience |
- Minimum 7–9 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years leading multiple Agile teams or acting as a Release Train Engineer or Senior Scrum Master.

Nature of Experience
|
- Deep experience implementing Agile at scale (e.g., SAFe, Spotify, LeSS)
- Leadership in high-impact digital transformation programmes
- Familiarity with DevOps toolchains (Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps)
