Position Summary
The Technical Manager - Systems is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, optimization, and support of the organization's enterprise systems infrastructure. This role oversees system engineers and administrators, ensuring the availability, performance, security, and resilience of server, storage, virtualization, operating system, and cloud platforms.
The role combines technical leadership, operational management, project delivery, vendor management, and strategic planning to ensure that business and IT objectives are achieved through reliable and scalable technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Systems Management
- Manage enterprise server infrastructure including physical, virtual, and cloud-based environments.
- Oversee Microsoft Windows Server, Linux/Unix, and hybrid cloud platforms.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and stability of enterprise systems.
- Manage virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, or similar technologies.
- Administer and optimize storage systems, SAN, NAS, and backup solutions.
- Ensure proper capacity planning and infrastructure scalability.
Cloud Management
- Manage Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud environments.
- Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
- Govern cloud costs and optimize resource consumption.
- Implement cloud security best practices and compliance controls.
Operational Support
- Ensure adherence to SLAs, OLAs, and operational KPIs.
- Lead problem management activities for recurring infrastructure issues.
- Manage major incidents affecting critical systems.
- Establish preventive maintenance procedures and operational standards.
- Ensure 24x7 support coverage where required.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Implement security hardening standards and vulnerability management.
- Support cybersecurity initiatives and audits.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, ISO 20000, NIST, and organizational governance requirements.
- Coordinate disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Project Delivery
- Lead infrastructure modernization and transformation projects.
- Manage project timelines, resources, budgets, and risks.
- Coordinate infrastructure activities across multiple stakeholders.
- Support application deployment and enterprise platform upgrades.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor Systems Engineers, Infrastructure Specialists, and Administrators.
- Develop technical standards, policies, and operational procedures.
- Conduct performance reviews and career development planning.
- Build technical capabilities through training and knowledge transfer.
Vendor & Contract Management
- Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
- Evaluate new technologies and solutions.
- Monitor vendor performance against contractual obligations.
- Participate in procurement and technical evaluations.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in:

- Related discipline
Experience
- 8-12 years of IT infrastructure experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years in a managerial or team leadership role.
- Experience managing enterprise-scale systems environments.
- Experience supporting mission-critical infrastructure and applications.
