Senior Data Privacy and Governance Manager (m/f/d)
A global financial institution offering a broad range of services, including investment, corporate, and private banking, as well as asset management. The organization is currently seeking a Senior Data Privacy and Governance Manager to join their team and ensure compliance with data privacy and governance regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on compliance with data privacy and governance regulations.
- Act as Deputy Data Protection Officer as assigned by the CISO.
- Execute and manage DPIA assessments across business, IT, and cybersecurity teams.
- Accountable for the delivery of privacy budget-approved projects on time and quality.
- Create and manage the privacy controls framework, designing monitoring metrics for risk and performance.
- Assist in the design of data catalogues, data flow, and data quality for data managers and owners.
- Manage data privacy and governance frameworks to integrate and operate under the enterprise risk framework.
- Maintain and seek approvals for roles and responsibilities matrix of privacy and data governance frameworks.
- Oversee compliance with data privacy and governance laws and regulations for subsidiaries and international business.
- Monitor adherence to data protection, data governance, and data privacy laws and regulations.
- Develop and execute data privacy and governance plans as approved by the CISO.
- Drive data privacy and governance programs.
- Build and lead the data privacy and governance unit and team.
- Build internal capabilities for data privacy and governance.
- Act as point of contact with relevant staff, internal teams, and supervisory authorities.
- Estimate and manage the budget allocated for data privacy and governance.
- Plan and implement central data privacy controls to achieve full compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR).
- Conduct Data Privacy Impact Assessments for significant changes, ensuring privacy by design.
- Own and monitor adherence to data privacy and governance policies and procedures.
- Address queries from data subjects within legal timeframes.
- Liaise with organizations/vendors processing data on behalf of the group.
- Offer consultation and advice on privacy breaches.
- Follow up with changes in laws and regulations, issuing recommendations for compliance.
- Oversee data processing activities such as data identification and classification.
- Automate data privacy and governance management where applicable.
- Ensure enterprise data assets are governed by comprehensive data management approaches.
- Approve data privacy and governance exception requests and recommend appropriate actions.
- Assess the effectiveness and compliance levels of implemented data privacy and governance controls.
- Establish data quality guidelines and metrics, regularly monitoring and reporting on data quality issues.
- Assist efforts to identify, classify, and document sensitive data, ensuring compliance with regulations like GDPR and CCPA.
- Review and oversee data governance workflows, including data lineage, access controls, and retention policies.
- Lead efforts with IT teams to implement data governance tools and technologies.
- Collaborate with risk and compliance teams to ensure alignment with internal policies and external regulations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on data governance and privacy matters.
- Collaborate with external vendors and partners to maintain standards in outsourced processes.
- Participate in audits and assessments related to data governance and compliance.
- Discover data within the organization and determine gaps in data governance controls.
- Oversee data processes around data profiling, cataloguing, metadata management, master data management, and data quality.
- Support and maintain an inventory/catalogue of enterprise information maps.
- Support strategic requirements of the bank, reducing data risk and enabling business value.
- Oversee the management of cross-border and intra-jurisdictional data transfers.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 8+ years of professional experience in data privacy and governance.
- Extensive hands-on experience with data privacy and governance frameworks.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing privacy controls and frameworks.
- Solid understanding of regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
- Experience with Data Privacy Impact Assessments and third-party assessments.
- Strong knowledge of data governance tools and technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
