Position Description
The Lead Engineer is in charge of the execution of engineering scope of the company’s projects
Purpose of Role (Objectives)
Ensures that the engineering portion of projects are delivered on time, on budget and meet the quality requirements of the customer 
Promote and maintain reputation of the company for supply of quality products 
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Lead a committed and enthusiastic multi-disciplined team acting as the engineering focal point of the project 
Provide engineering inputs into the production of the project schedule 
Ensure the completion of Engineering deliverables in accordance with the project schedule 
Control Engineering costs to ensure engineering is delivered on or under budget 
Represent and be responsible for the Engineering scope at the Project Triangle meetings 
Report on Engineering progress and performance on the project to the Project Triangle 
Expedite Engineering deliverables from both internal and external engineering providers. 
Assist in identifying adequate resources required to complete the engineering deliverables 
Prepare technical project specific documentation 
Produce scope requirements for external engineering providers 
Check and distribute design work produced both internally and externally for compliance with customer requirements 
Prepare technical RFQs for distribution to vendors 
Prepare Technical Bid Evaluations of vendor quotes to ensure equipment / materials procured meet the project requirements 
Control engineering changes and highlight where changes will have a cost impact to the Project Manager prior to implementing the change 
Maintain good relationships with clients and consultants whilst resolving technical clarifications within the project’s goals
Ensure company quality and safety procedures are followed 
Skills and Duties
Be able to develop & monitor an engineering project plan and monitor project performance against the plan 
Understanding of the fundamentals of process, mechanical and instrument requirements of the company’s process packages
Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and drawings 
Understand manufacturing processes including basic fabrication, machining, specialist welding and painting / coating operations
Have a working knowledge of Company Procedures, Quality and HSE standards 
Qualifications & Education Requirements 
Degree or equivalent – Mechanical, Chemical, Instrument or Electrical?
Experience Required 
Fundamental understanding of at least one engineering discipline: Mechanical, Chemical, Instrument, Electrical 
Broad knowledge of all engineering disciplines 
Proven track record in project engineering 
10+ years relevant experience
