We’re looking for an experienced Android Engineer to join a mobile team working on a high-traffic, consumer-facing Android application used by millions of users across the region. This role offers the opportunity to build polished, performant mobile experiences where quality and reliability have a direct impact on end users.
You’ll work closely with product, design, and backend teams to deliver features end to end, contributing to both product delivery and the evolution of the Android architecture.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and ship features across a large-scale Android application, including search, discovery, and user engagement flows
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and QA to translate requirements into well-architected solutions
- Write clean, maintainable Kotlin code and build modern UIs using Jetpack Compose
- Own features end to end: scoping, technical design, implementation, testing, release, monitoring, and iteration
- Contribute to the evolution of app architecture, shared components, state management, and navigation patterns
- Write and maintain unit and UI tests, review pull requests, and uphold engineering best practices
- Investigate and resolve crashes, ANRs, and performance issues using industry-standard Android tooling
- Improve developer experience through better CI/CD pipelines, build performance, and release processes
- Stay close to the product and users, using data and metrics to guide technical decisions
What We’re Looking For
Core Skills & Experience
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin, with idiomatic use of language features
- Solid experience with Coroutines and Flow for asynchronous and reactive programming
- Production experience building UIs with Jetpack Compose
- Strong understanding of core Android concepts: lifecycle, configuration changes, background work, permissions, and modern Jetpack libraries (ViewModel, Room, WorkManager, DataStore, etc.)
- Experience writing unit and UI tests (e.g. JUnit, MockK/Mockito, Compose UI testing, Espresso)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Gradle (including Kotlin DSL and version catalogs), and automated testing
- Confident use of Git, including reviews, branching strategies, and clean commit practices
Nice to Have
- Experience with maps or location-based features
- Exposure to image-heavy or highly interactive UIs and performance optimisation
- Experience with A/B testing, feature flags, or data-driven experimentation
- Background working on large-scale consumer apps (e.g. marketplace, e-commerce, classifieds)
- Experience with multi-module Android projects and modularisation at scale
