A well-established organization operating in a regulated environment is seeking a Senior Java Analyst Developer / Technical Lead to join its IT team. The role combines hands-on Java development with technical leadership, application architecture, maintenance, and collaboration with business stakeholders. The successful candidate will take ownership of technical decisions while supporting and mentoring other developers and contributing to the continuous improvement of applications, processes, and technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Design and oversee the technical architecture of Java applications while developing robust, scalable backend solutions.
- Lead technical decision-making, conduct code reviews, resolve complex technical challenges, and ensure high standards of code quality.
- Coach and mentor Java developers, share technical knowledge, and collaborate closely with Product Owners, business users, and other stakeholders.
- Translate business requirements and functional specifications into technical solutions, delivering new applications and enhancements within agreed scope and planning.
- Maintain and improve existing applications by handling technical requests, resolving bugs, performing root-cause analysis, and implementing sustainable improvements.
- Contribute to release management, testing, technical and user documentation, application support, and the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, security, and technologies.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree in IT or equivalent professional experience, with at least 5 years of relevant experience for a senior-level profile and strong hands-on Java development expertise.
- Strong knowledge of Java 7/8/11/17, Spring, JEE, RESTful Web Services, SOAP, concurrency and multithreading, with experience designing and integrating backend applications and APIs.
- Experience with development and delivery tools including Maven, Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, Jira, application servers such as GlassFish and WildFly, and databases such as Microsoft SQL Server.
- Knowledge of modern development environments and technologies such as Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes, ReactJS, ActiveMQ/OpenMQ, Linux/Unix, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of secure development practices, including OWASP Top Ten, OAuth, JWT, SAML, encryption, API security, Spring Security, dependency management, and standards such as GDPR and PCI-DSS.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and ownership skills, with experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and interacting with both technical teams and business users; fluent English plus Dutch or French is required.
