About the Opportunity
We are currently supporting an innovative technology-driven company that is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir/Phoenix) to join its growing engineering team.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a modern cloud-native platform that processes large volumes of transactions and serves thousands of users daily. You will play a key role in designing, building, and scaling mission-critical backend services while collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and DevOps teams.
Your Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Elixir and Phoenix
- Build and optimize APIs and business-critical services
- Develop highly available and fault-tolerant distributed systems
- Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term technical strategy
- Improve application performance, security, and reliability
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Participate in code reviews and mentor other engineers
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Support and improve CI/CD processes and engineering best practices
Your Profile
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong experience with Elixir and Phoenix, or extensive experience in comparable backend technologies and distributed systems
- Solid understanding of functional programming concepts
- Experience building scalable, high-performance backend applications
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Experience working in cloud environments
- Ability to work independently in a remote-first environment
- Strong communication skills in English
Nice to Have
- Experience with OTP, GenServers, Supervisors, Ecto, and LiveView
- Experience with PostgreSQL
- Knowledge of AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Exposure to event-driven architectures and message-based systems
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools
- Frontend experience with React, Next.js, or TypeScript
