The senior technician is responsible for handling complex builds, ensuring precision in critical interfaces, and supporting system readiness for testing and operational use. The role also serves as a technical point of reference within the workshop, guiding others and ensuring high standards of workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

Advanced Mechanical Assembly

  • Build and integrate complex mechanical systems and subassemblies for marine and underwater platforms.

  • Carry out precision work on pressure housings, structural frames, mechanisms, and load‑bearing components.

  • Install and validate critical mechanical interfaces, including seals, O‑rings, bearings, and alignment‑sensitive parts.

  • Lead disassembly and reassembly activities during troubleshooting, upgrades, or system modifications.

Engineering Collaboration

  • Serve as the main workshop contact for complex builds, working closely with mechanical design teams.

  • Provide clear feedback on assembly challenges, tolerances, accessibility, and build sequencing.

  • Participate in design discussions to improve manufacturability and integration efficiency.

  • Contribute to refining assembly procedures and enhancing workshop standards.

Testing & System Readiness

  • Prepare mechanical systems for pressure testing, environmental testing, and sea‑based trials.

  • Support test execution, monitor system behavior, and assist with post‑test teardown.

  • Participate in failure investigations and help identify root causes.

  • Ensure all assemblies meet configuration and readiness requirements before testing.

Mentorship & Technical Leadership

  • Guide junior and mid‑level technicians during assembly activities.

  • Demonstrate best practices in precision assembly, sealing, cleanliness, and tool handling.

  • Act as a technical reference during critical or high‑risk operations.

Workshop Standards & Safety

  • Uphold safety rules, tool‑control procedures, and cleanliness expectations.

  • Maintain a well‑organized, professional, and safe working environment.

Qualifications & Experience

Education & Background

  • Technical diploma or vocational qualification in mechanical assembly, industrial mechanics, or a related field.

  • 5–10 years of hands‑on experience in mechanical assembly or system integration.

  • Experience in marine, subsea, aerospace, defense, or other high‑reliability industries is strongly preferred.

Technical Expertise

  • Advanced ability to interpret mechanical drawings
