IT Systems Database Administrator Expert (m/f/d)

We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Database Administrator Expert to lead a critical migration project. The successful candidate will play a key role in migrating databases from AWS Cloud to another Cloud provider, including transitioning from Oracle to PostgreSQL.

- Migrate existing cloud-based Oracle databases (RDS) to PostgreSQL cloud-based databases (settings, data, procedures).
- Removal of Oracle Spatial.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and performance of cloud-based databases during and after the migration.
- Provide technical expertise and support for database-related issues.
- Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and scalability.
- Collaborate with other teams and involvement in other IT systems and the Data Migration leader to ensure database design meets application requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of data modelling and data warehousing.
Education
- Bachelor or equivalent degree of at least 3 successful years of post-high school education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computing (EQF level 6),
OR - 2 years of professional experience in addition to experience required in section “Experience” below, for each missing year of required years of studies.
Languages
- Very good knowledge of English (Level C1 – Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience in IT, of which:
- 5 years of experience as a DBA, with a focus on cloud migration and database administration.
- 5 years of experience with database design and development.
- 5 years of experience with Oracle, Oracle Spatial, RDS, and PostgreSQL.
- 2 years of experience with cloud migration, including data transfer and synchronization.
- 1 year experience with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
