Unix Architect (m/f/d)

Contract
Luxembourg, Luxembourg
27.11.2025
We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Unix Architect to design, lead, and evolve our automation and infrastructure architecture for enterprise-scale Unix environments. The Architect will be responsible for defining end-to-end automation strategies, designing complex Unix service architectures, and ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our global Unix platforms.
This role combines deep technical expertise with architectural leadership across automation, configuration management, security hardening, DNS, patching, antivirus, and infrastructure orchestration domains. You will drive innovation and standards that enable our squads to deliver highly automated, compliant, and resilient Unix services.

Key Responsibilities
1. Architecture Design & Strategy:
  • Define the technical vision and architecture for Unix automation and infrastructure management.
  • Design scalable and secure automation frameworks leveraging Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), GitLab CI/CD, and Terraform.
  • Architect end-to-end workflows for system provisioning, patching, configuration, and compliance.
  • Lead the design of DNS, DHCP, and IPAM solutions using EfficientIP or equivalent enterprise-grade tools.
  • Oversee antivirus and endpoint protection strategies across Unix environments.
  • Ensure architectural alignment with enterprise IT standards, security baselines, and compliance requirements

2. Platform & Infrastructure Design:
  • Design and implement Red Hat Satellite architectures for OS lifecycle management and patch automation.
  • Define architecture blueprints for Ansible Automation Platform, including inventory management, RBAC, and execution environments.
  • Integrate Terraform-based infrastructure provisioning with Unix automation  workflows.
  • Lead DNS and network service design for hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with security teams to design antivirus, malware protection, and  hardening standards for Linux/Unix systems.
  • Evaluate and select tools for configuration management, monitoring, and compliance  enforcement.

3. Governance & Standardization
  • Establish governance models and reusable blueprints for Unix automation components.
  • Define CI/CD and GitOps standards across GitLab pipelines for code quality, testing, and deployment.
  • Introduce architectural guardrails for automation security, secrets management, and access control.
  • Lead architecture reviews, providing technical guidance and validation for squad deliverables.
  • Define and enforce policies for infrastructure code structure, branching, and versioning.

4. Collaboration & Mentorship
  • Collaborate closely with platform engineers, developers, and network/security architects to ensure seamless service integration.
  • Mentor developers and junior architects, fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to cross-squad initiatives, architectural boards, and technology roadmap discussions.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and drive architectural discussions within sprints and planning sessions.

5. Documentation & Knowledge Management
  • Produce detailed design documents, diagrams, and operational playbooks for Unix automation platforms.
  • Maintain architectural repositories and ensure up-to-date documentation in Confluence or internal portals.
  • Document integrations, APIs, and reference architectures to enable knowledge transfer across teams.
  •
