The Odoo System Engineer is responsible for the design, deployment, and optimization of the server infrastructure hosting the Odoo ERP environment. The System Engineer ensures high availability, security, and performance of the platform. The primary objective is to manage the server-side architecture, automate deployments, and maintain the underlying Linux/PostgreSQL environment to support business-critical operations.

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Management: Deploy and manage Odoo environments on local servers or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or Odoo.sh).
• Performance Tuning: Optimize PostgreSQL database performance, handle load balancing (Nginx), and manage server resource allocation (RAM/CPU/Workers) for high-traffic environments.
• DevOps & CI/CD: Implement and maintain automated deployment pipelines (CI/CD) and version control workflows using Git/GitHub.
• Security & Compliance: Configure firewalls (UFW/Iptables), manage SSL certificates, and ensure data encryption and user access controls are strictly enforced.
• Backup & Recovery: Design and execute robust backup strategies and Disaster Recovery (DR) plans to ensure zero data loss.
• Monitoring & Support: Proactively monitor server health, logs, and uptime using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus, and provide Level 2/3 technical support for infrastructure issues.

Threshold Qualifications

• Academic: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Technical Certification: Official Odoo Technical Certification and/or certifications in Linux System Administration (RHCSA/LPIC) or Cloud Computing (AWS/Azure).
• Software Skills: Expert-level knowledge of Linux/Ubuntu Server, PostgreSQL administration, Nginx, Docker/Kubernetes, and Shell Scripting (Bash).
• Network Knowledge: Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, and VPN configurations

Experience:

• A minimum of 4 to 6 years of experience in system administration or DevOps roles.
• At least 3 years of specialized experience in Odoo Server Administration. This must include experience managing high-concurrency Odoo environments, database clustering, and successfully executing version migrations (e.g., migrating Odoo 15 to 17 at the database level). Experience with containerization (Docker) and Odoo.sh is highly preferred.
• Experience in a consultancy or a multi-company environment is highly preferred.
• Previous experience in payment services is a plus.
• Experience working in the UAE region is a plus.
• Should possess commendable leadership skills such as mentorship, team management, delegating responsibilities, providing direction, motivation, and empowerment to the team.
• Should possess strategic and analytical thinking capabilities with an acumen for problem-solving.
• Should be adaptable, flexible, and collaborative with good time-management skills.
• Professional fluency in written and spoken English; Arabic is a plus.
