Data Engineer (AWS Data Platform) 

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to build, optimize, and maintain enterprise-scale data platforms supporting Corporate & Investment Banking operations.

This is a core engineering role focused on designing and developing modern cloud-based data architectures using AWS technologies. The successful candidate will work across large-scale data ingestion, transformation, storage, and analytics initiatives, ensuring data platforms are scalable, secure, and highly performant.

The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in AWS data services, particularly Amazon Redshift, Athena, and Apache Iceberg, along with experience developing modern data lake and data warehouse solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud-based data platforms using AWS services
  • Develop and optimize data pipelines supporting enterprise analytics and reporting requirements
  • Implement and manage data lake and data warehouse solutions using Amazon Redshift, Athena, and Apache Iceberg
  • Build ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured datasets
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, governance, and performance across data platforms
  • Collaborate with business, analytics, and engineering teams to support data-driven initiatives
  • Optimize query performance, storage efficiency, and platform scalability
  • Implement data security and access controls aligned with enterprise standards
  • Support data modelling, metadata management, and data architecture initiatives
  • Contribute to automation, monitoring, and operational excellence across the data ecosystem
  • Troubleshoot and resolve platform and pipeline issues while maintaining high availability

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Amazon Redshift
    • Amazon Athena
    • Apache Iceberg
  • Experience building cloud-native data lakes and data warehouse platforms
  • Strong SQL development and query optimization skills
  • Experience with ETL/ELT frameworks and data pipeline development
  • Strong understanding of data architecture and distributed data systems
  • Experience working within AWS cloud environments
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience within Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, or Financial Services
  • Exposure to AWS Glue, EMR, Lambda, S3, and Lake Formation
  • Familiarity with modern data lakehouse architectures
  • Experience working within Agile and DevOps environments
  • AWS Certifications preferred
  • Exposure to real-time and streaming data architectures
