We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Banking Expert to support the delivery of complex transformation initiatives within a dynamic and regulated banking environment for our client, a bank based in Greece.
The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert (SME), bridging business and technology, and providing deep knowledge of banking systems, processes, and regulatory requirements. This role plays a key part in ensuring that solutions are aligned with both operational needs and IT architecture.
Key Responsibilities Banking Expertise & Advisory
• Act as a subject matter expert across banking domains, including core banking, payments, lending, and digital channels
• Provide input on banking processes, system capabilities, and best practices
• Advise on regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks impacting IT delivery Business–IT Alignment
• Translate business requirements into functional and system-level specifications
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, and architects to ensure end-to-end alignment of solutions
• Support solution design by validating feasibility, scalability, and regulatory compliance Transformation & Delivery Support
• Contribute to large-scale transformation programmes (core banking upgrades, digital initiatives, regulatory projects)
• Participate in project and programme activities, ensuring banking requirements are fully addressed
• Support testing, validation, and go-live readiness for critical systems Stakeholder & Vendor Management
• Engage with internal stakeholders, vendors, and system integrators
• Support vendor evaluations and solution selection processes
• Facilitate communication between business, IT, and third parties Risk, Governance & Compliance
• Identify and manage risks related to banking processes and system implementations
• Ensure adherence to internal governance standards and regulatory requirements
• Support audit and compliance activities where required
Requirements • 10+ years of experience in banking IT, banking operations, or financial services transformation
• Strong knowledge of core banking systems and processes (e.g., payments, lending, accounts, digital banking)
• Experience in IT projects / transformation programmes within banking
• Proven ability to act as an SME bridging business and IT teams
• Experience working in regulated environments with compliance requirements
• Understanding of core banking platforms, integrations, and system architectures
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and reporting requirements
• Exposure to APIs, data flows, and system integration concepts
• Knowledge of Agile / Waterfall delivery methodologies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Ability to translate complex business needs into practical IT solutions
