Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Data Governance Specialist to join our team.
This role develops and manages data governance frameworks, works closely with stakeholders and partners to align data governance practices and standards across the healthcare ecosystem.
They collaborate with stakeholders to align data practices, promote interoperability, and manage risks and compliance within the healthcare sector.
This role will report to the Head of Data and Digital Governance

This role develops and manages data governance frameworks, works closely with stakeholders and partners to align data governance practices and standards across the healthcare ecosystem.
They collaborate with stakeholders to align data practices, promote interoperability, and manage risks and compliance within the healthcare sector.
This role will report to the Head of Data and Digital Governance
Key Responsibilities
Policies and standards
- Develop and maintain data governance frameworks, policies, standards and processes.
- Ensure these documents are reviewed and approved by relevant stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and training to internal and external stakeholders on data governance principles and best practices.
- Work closely with stakeholders and partners to align data governance practices and standards across the healthcare ecosystem.
- Ensure adherence to data regulations as set by DOH as well as DGE
Compliance
- Establish governance controls in alignment with defined policies and standards as well as DGE requirements
- Manage Compliance programs and reporting cycles
- Conduct regular assessments and audits for internal teams and external entities
- Review compliance scores and take corrective actions
- Participate in compliance reporting to DGE and submitted evidence as required
Data and Digital Committees
- Facilitate committee meetings to ensure enterprise-wide alignment on data governance.
- Organize and lead regular committee meetings, setting agendas and ensuring productive discussions.
- Onboard and engage committee members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
Data Owners and Stewardship
- Identify and onboard data owners and stewards who are responsible for data quality and management within their respective domains.
- Develop and socialize models for data ownership and stewardship, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities.
- Support data owners and data custodians with data catalog related initiatives, ensuring efficient organization, accessibility, and utilization of data assets across the organization.
- Champion data-related efforts across DoH and ecosystem, supporting data owners during the implementation of Data and Digital Strategy initiatives.
Data Access and sharing
- Define and implement rules and processes for data access and sharing.
- Review and approve data access and sharing requests
- Ensure compliance with these rules and monitor their adoption.
Experience:
- More than 7+ years of experience in information technology, with 3-5 years experience in data management
- Knowledge of data management standards like DAMA DMBoK
- Experience working on Governance tools like Purview, Collibra, Informatica
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment with short deadlines, interruptions, and multiple tasks/projects occurring simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in healthcare data management would be an advantage.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
