Position: Senior Observability Operations Lead
Location: Abu Dhabi (Onsite)

Reports to: Head of Observability
Role Overview
This is a high-stakes, strategically vital role directly supporting the Head of Observability for one of the company’s largest government clients in the region. The Senior Observability Operations Lead will manage and enhance observability practices, standards, and frameworks critical to maintaining operational excellence and resilience in a highly demanding and fast-paced environment. The role requires exceptional resilience, strong leadership, clear communication, and rigorous operational discipline to ensure reliability and seamless performance of crucial public services.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Operational Leadership

Assist the Head of Observability in aligning observability practices with the client's strategic roadmap, ensuring maximum uptime, reliability, and visibility of critical government services.

Lead, define, and rigorously enforce service-level objectives (SLOs), service-level indicators (SLIs), and overall observability governance frameworks.
Advanced Monitoring and Excellence

Implement, oversee, and optimize sophisticated Dynatrace monitoring, alerting strategies, and incident detection methodologies.

Address alert fatigue, streamline operational responses, and significantly enhance incident resolution effectiveness.

Maintain continuous improvement and proactive evolution of observability processes and tools.
Team Management and Professional Development

Mentor, coach, and develop frontline operational teams (L1/L2), instilling high professional standards and performance expectations.

Facilitate comprehensive training programs, ensuring ongoing skill development and operational readiness.

Cultivate a culture of accountability, excellence, and proactive problem-solving within the observability team.
Senior Executive and Stakeholder Communication

Act as the primary observability contact for senior executives, clearly articulating operational statuses, strategic insights, and critical issues.

Provide strategic recommendations and drive operational alignment directly with senior government stakeholders.
Incident, Problem & Event Management
-
Collaborate closely with Event Management teams, ensuring seamless integration between event detection and incident/problem management processes.

Lead comprehensive root-cause analyses (RCAs), identifying and implementing proactive preventative measures, particularly around monitoring enhancements.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
-
Minimum 10 years experience in IT Operations and/or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), with a minimum of 5 years specifically focused on Observability.

Deep expertise with Dynatrace monitoring tools, OneAgent, Davis AI, Synthetic Monitoring, and DQL.

Proven track record in infrastructure monitoring solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).

Significant experience managing critical observability projects under demanding circumstances, consistently delivering operational excellence (MTTR, MTBF).

Fluent Arabic and English communication skills, with demonstrated experience in high-stakes, executive-level interactions.

ITIL v4 Certification

Kubernetes Certification (CKAD or CKA)

Immediate action to reduce alert noise, enhance accuracy, and improve incident response mechanisms.
